Middle schoolers using Inquiry to learn more fully about bias after reading a short story from their text

Students in 7th grade at Academy of Hope Charter are learning how bias, whether from the media, technology or authors, contributes to popular/unpopular opinion and impacts our system of beliefs

This Wonder Table has magazine articles, photos and nonfiction texts for students to peruse to decide whether they are biased in any way.  Students will pair up to talk and try to come to some agreement after the fact-finding process, which may include researching using technology and texts, is complete.

Next step:  Persuasive Essays to make their point

Scientific Inquiry in 6th Grade

Using "Science WorkStations Friday" to learn more deeply the science concepts and ideas taken from curriculum--and incorporating Science Vocabulary

Inquiry-based learning in 2016-17 looks and sounds like "Directly involve me and I understand"

"Boys of Hope"  treated to Olive Garden to show off their etiquette
You must be literate to use etiquette
