Students are using Rigby Literacy by Design as the main ELA resource and Harcourt as the supplemental ELA resource to teach for Language, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills and strategies. The ELA Block consists of Independent Reading, Familiar/Shared Reading, Writing/Response, Vocabulary Development, and New Reading to Write. It is very intense and students are required to create new writings almost daily from what they are learning. Although intense, the goal includes making the new learning both interest-driven and fun as much as possible.
